Even though there is an increase in tourism research in India during the last 2-3 decades, researchers within the domain of tourism education made an insignificant contribution to entrepreneurship education (henceforth ‘EE') programs. The objectives of this research are to study the current status of EE in tourism, to analyse and compare course title, core concepts, major references, and further readings. This study follows a content analysis design, focusing on an in-depth analysis of syllabi of post-graduation tourism programs in Indian higher educational institutions. The syllabi contents were analyzed using the Atlas.ti. The major findings of this study indicate that in India EE in tourism programs is mostly considered as one of the core modules itself than optional/elective modules and part of other courses. Almost all syllabi have included chapters on basic concepts of entrepreneurship, capital financing, business plan, opportunities, innovations, etc. This finding has major implications for designing innovative entrepreneurship courses in tourism programs.

Through this thematic analysis, several major themes were identified that reflect the sustainability criteria in the IHR: 1. Environmental and Biodiversity Conservation, 2. Cultural Heritage and Community Engagement, 3. Infrastructure and Accessibility, 4. Tourism Regulations and Policy, 5. Local Livelihoods and Socioeconomic Impact, 6. Overdevelopment and Carrying Capacity, 7. Wellness, Health Issues, Waste Management, and Sanitation, 8. Tourism and Technology, and 9. Training, Education, and Awareness. The analysis reveals several critical gaps in the existing research that hinder a complete understanding and effective implementation of sustainable tourism practices. These gaps include the need for longitudinal studies to assess long-term impacts, the development of robust methodologies for evaluating sustainability initiatives, the integration of advanced technologies such as GIS and AI, and the importance of interdisciplinary collaboration. Furthermore, the review emphasises the need for community-based research to ensure local perspectives are incorporated into tourism policies. By providing a detailed overview of the evolution of tourism and hospitality research in the IHR, this review contributes to the field by offering a thorough overview and laying a foundational framework for future studies and policy development. The recommendations presented aim to address identified gaps and advance sustainable tourism and hospitality research, ultimately supporting the development of effective policies and practices for this ecologically fragile and culturally rich region.

Tourism constitutes a substantial driver of economic growth within the Indian Himalayan Region (IHR). Nevertheless, it also presents noteworthy challenges to the region's environment and society. This paper undertakes a systematic literature review, employing thematic analysis, to examine the body of research on tourism within the IHR. The primary aim is to find out existing research gaps and propose strategies to sustainable development in this context. The methodological approach adopted in this study entails a comprehensive and systematic review of the literature encompassing the period from 1977 to August 2023, incorporating a total of 1036 published works. The sources consulted included widely recognized academic databases such as Scopus, Web of Science, and Google Scholar. Additionally, The Lens, an integrated database aggregator, was employed to ensure a thorough exploration of relevant literature. The findings of this paper underscore the need for increased research concern to the multifaceted impacts of tourism on the IHR, encompassing domains encompassing environmental sustainability, sociocultural preservation, economic dimensions, and beyond. Furthermore, it is advocated that tourism development strategies in the IHR ought to be supported by a participatory approach that actively engages all stakeholders. This collaborative approach should include local communities, government bodies, and the private sector to facilitate holistic and sustainable tourism development practices.

The outbreak of COVID-19 in December 2019 dramatically changed the entire scenario worldwide. As of now, the global pandemic effects will take the travel and tourism sector back to 20 years (Richter, 2020). Reports of UNWTO and WTTC forecasted 121 million direct tourism jobs in risk and a decline of around 80% in international tourist arrivals in the year 2020 (UNWTO, 2020a; WTTC, 2020b). Many studies have discussed that the COVID-19 lead worldwide travel restrictions, international sanctions and economic crisis, boosted ethnic conflicts and geopolitical tensions at local and international level. This article elaborates on trends of the global travel and tourism sector before and since the COVID-19 pandemic concerning the ethnic conflicts and geopolitics happening around the world. The present research article is based on the reports of UNWTO, WTTC and other national bodies besides the scholarly writings contributed by Burke, Chetcuti et al., Polo, Seyfi et al., Wilkinson et al., Jawabreh, Mostafanezhad, Timothy and Rowen. Authors have also attempted to review the news and views that appeared in the print and electronic medias. And whatever the issues and trends were noticed have been elaborated in the present research paper supported by statements on recent measures by government or non-government agencies to restart the tourism sector.

Netnography has been there in the social science stream since 1995 but is mostly used only for market and consumer research. Kozinets (2007) defined Netnography as ‘doing ethnographic research online or on digital networks and also as a combination of internet and ethnography’. The objectives of this study is to understand the current trends & future of digital space of India and an extensive analysis of existing Netnographic studies in India. The study reflects that the digital space and digital users are growing with high penetration rate along with the popularity of 4Gs and Smartphones in India. Research findings further reveal that there exists a substantial gap between the scope of Netnographic studies and the size of the overall Indian digital space, virtual networks/SNSs and number of digital users. Also, there are only a few disciplines currently promoting Netnography as a serious research method in India.

The tourism industry, encompassing transportation, accommodation, recreation, entertainment, food and beverage services, and travel services, accounts for a significant 8% of total employment. This research paper examines the transition trend of waged employees venturing into entrepreneurship within the Indian tourism sector and the associated challenges they encounter in financing tourism-related small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). The study reveals a positive transition rate within the tourism industry compared to other sectors, primarily influenced by factors such as digital marketing, accessible financing options, government support schemes, and minimal capital and labor requirements. However, this transition is not without its socio-economic challenges.
